  • It is rightly said children are today’s blessings and tomorrow’s promises. The concept of promises holds well if child health is good. As you are aware that child’s body is highly sensitive, delicate and vulnerable to any kind of harm both internal and external unless otherwise the same is properly taken care of.

    It is therefore necessary that due attention is given a child’s well beings for overall physical and mental development. For a better child health, you should allow him healthy diet, adequate hours of sleep and arrange for regular health check-up. All these will facilitate proper growth of your kid. New born babies are exposed to various health hazards including birth asphyxia and infections of different kinds. However, such health hazards can be checked if appropriate care is taken during pregnancy, safe delivery is ensured, neonatal care such as early breast feeding, skin care etc.

    This apart preventive measure against certain ailments such as Pneumonia, diarrhea, malaria, malnutrition etc. are also taken care of. Certain symptoms, when found in your child, should never be neglected. Rather medical advice of an experienced practitioner should be sought. Such symptoms are: If temperature is over 02.2 °F (39°C) for more than half an hour; if one is too much cold or hot; breathing has been found to be very noisy and rapid; vomiting color is green; child cries in unbearable pain; child talks at a low volume; blood is coming out of urine etc. Maltreatment has become rampant amongst children these days. Maltreatment means the physical abuse and neglect meted to the children below 18 years. The activities included under sexual harassment are ill-treating or exploiting physically or emotionally towards a child. As this kind of maltreatment affects a child’s psychological health, it becomes the responsibility of the parents and the society at large eliminating such practice in totality.

    After the birth of a child, the period up to 8 years of age is crucial from the point of view of mental and biological development. This period has got a serious impact on the child’s entire life. Therefore it necessitates that the child’s nutrition, its environment, medication, vaccinations and primary education are properly taken care of to enable him to become a responsible adult of the future.

    Parents should also take care of the food allergies in children. The foods responsible such allergy may include- Fish, Eggs, Milk, Nuts, Tomatoes, Citrus Fruits etc. Due to allergic reaction, the child’s immune system produces antibodies called IGE. As a result of this, certain symptoms such as skin rashes, vomiting, diarrhea or allergic cold etc are found in the child’s body. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the parents to ensure that such foods are not included in the child’s diet.

    As regards food habit, a growing child should be given foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids like fish and eggs. These foods should not be over-cooked so as to ensure the retention of maximum nutritional content in them. It should not be a fried one. Scrambled eggs are good. It is highly necessary for the child to get all the needed vitamins and minerals. To this end, consumption of sufficient quantity of fruits and vegetables are a good idea to ensure that your child’s body has got everything it needs for day to day functioning.
